On this Wiki do we have any mods or admins?
Does any one know who made this wiki im just curious?
Hello! I'm KC, a member of the Vanguard team here on Wikia/FANDOM. I'm posting this thread to ask about the implementation of Portable Infoboxes on this wiki.
The potential was brought up in a different thread a few years back (glee.wikia.com/d/p/2739816345108481080), though migrations were never completed. Since people can change a lot in a few years, it's been decided that it would be best to get fresh opinions on the matter.
What are your thoughts?
Below is a picture of a regular, non-portable infobox (left) as well as a portable one (right).
I would pick Lea Michele
Hi, I'm Yatalu! I'm Dutch Wikia Helper and a member of the new usergroup Vanguard. I've recently watched the first couple of episodes of Glee and my favorite character so far is Emma, because I think she's really cute ^- ^
Anyway, that aside! I'm here to sell introduce you guys to the Portable Infoboxes. Have you guys heard of them yet? If not: they're a new Wikia feature that allows you to easily build infoboxes like Template:Infobox Cast.
One of the things I really like about PI's is that their code is super easy to read because they e.g. need no ParserFunctions to make unused rows invisible. Also, I noticed that since Verbatim no longer works, the Youtube player from Template:Infobox single (as you can see in e.g. Don't Stop Believin') doesn't show anymore. I tried out making a PI on my test wiki —w:c:yatalu:Don't Stop Believin'— and it seems like that's perfectly fixable and the video does display fine (though I think there may be ways to have that work in regular infoboxes too). Also, the main purpose of the feature is that they're "portable", i.e. they would look good across all devices, which is important because of high mobile traffic to the site too.
The new type of code may seem scary, when PI's just came out I didn't want to try them out for months either, but don't worry! If you guys agree that PI's are a good idea, I (and if I need help, I'll call some other Vanguardians in) will code some to see if they function well on your wiki. Also, I'm definitely willing to make time to explain how they work. That way, I also won't be leaving you guys with code you don't understand.
So, questions for you guys in this thread:
- First impression about Portable Infoboxes? Wanna give them a try to see how they will look on this wiki?
- Would you like to see Portable Infoboxes implemented on Glee Wiki? Why (not)?
- Are you interested in learning how Portable Infobox code works? (Especially for experienced editors)
- Other thoughts, comments, questions!
Please let me know in this thread :) PS: would it be a good idea to highlight this thread? If so, feel free to do so ^- ^
Hey there!
We've gathered 64 of the most powerful female protagonists for our first ever Shero Bracket Tournment - and a character from YOUR fandom is competing!
What's a Shero, you ask? A Shero is a heroine from the realm of comics, books, movies, TV, and games. There were so many options to choose from, but we managed to narrow them down to 64. These competitors will battle it out for 6 rounds, with the winner announced on January 3, 2017.
Ready to smash the patriarchy? Vote for your fandom's Shero now!
Fandom's Shero Bracket Tournament
Please make a pool about who should be Rachel's End Game... I belive the writers r douing anything they can to please the true fans, so whatever we ask they will try to achieve it. For example, Samchel(tho, im not a big fan of.)!!!
Options in the pool: Sam, Jesse St. James, &, Alone.
Please!!!
JONATHAN GROFF ON "WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE"
Viewer: [...] I wanted to know will you make an appearance on the last season of Glee?
Jonathan Groff: Maybe...yeah, I don't know, I don't know, that's—that's definitely a possibility.
Andy Cohen: Well, maybe you do know but you can't say.
Jonathan: What did you say?
Andy: I said maybe you do know but you can't say.
Jonathan: Maybe I do know but I can't say.
I've been thinking about this for awhile since I visit this Glee Wikia almost daily for my fix of glee-put (my combination of 'Glee' and 'input'). I think the background should be changed again to reflect the cast we have now. Of course the original cast members would be best but the newest ones in Season 6 seem pretty cool too. It doesn't even have to be faces but just something that represents 'Glee' where it is now!! Hope you take this into consideration.
Hi! So I am brand new to glee wiki, and so I was wondering if maybe anyone out there could possibly help explain things to me? That would be awesome! If you could reply back, that would be even more awesome! Thanks! Gleek out! :P
