Candles est chanté à l'origine par le groupe Hey Monday et sa chanteuse Cassadee Pope. Elle est interpretée dans l'épisode Sur Un Air Original par Blaine et Kurt. La chanson sert de numéro d'ouverture aux Warblers pour les Régionales 2011.
Kurt avait auparavant reproché à Blaine de chanter tous les solos des Warblers. Blaine était d'accord avec lui car il ne se sentait pas les épaules pour porter seul les chances de Warblers de gagner. Il accepte de chanter en duo mais exige que ce soit avec Kurt. Il lui avouera ensuite que c'est pour passer du temps avec lui.

Anecdotes
- C'est leur premier duo en temps que couple.
- Cette chanson n'a pas eu un très bon accueil, certains la trouvent "dissonnante". Ce serait en partie dû au fait que Chris Colfer et Darren Criss l'aient enregistrée séparément en studio, et qu'ils ne sont pas exactement dans la même tonalité. La voix de Chris (Kurt) est légèrement plus aigue que celle de Darren (Blaine).
