Aural Intensity is the glee club of Westvale High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and competed at Regionals in the episodes Journey and Original Song. Their Modus Operandi is to "kiss up" to the judges of the competitions they go to by singing songs that appeal to them. Aural Intensity has joined the 2010 and 2011 Western Ohio Regionals Championship.

Season One

As was overheard from New Directions' green room, they performed a mash-up of Magic and You Raise Me Up sung by Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban respectively, coming second to Vocal Adrenaline. Sue voted them as the runners-up, and while it's assumed that the other judges did as well, their votes were never revealed. Sue calls them the "not at all stupidly named" Aural Intensity.

Season Two

Ai

In Comeback, Mr. Schuester announces that Aural Intensity will once again compete against them at Regionals this year. Sue announces at the end of the episode that she has become their director of the group saying that she had "the music in her" and can continue threatening New Directions' existence . Later in Blame It On The Alcohol, Sue reveals that she pushed the "chipper" and "homosexual" director of Aural Intensity down the stairs twice, because the first time he wasn't badly enough hurt, though the second he was hurt terribly, thus replacing him as the director of Aural Intensity.

In Original Song, they "kiss up" to the judges again by singing Jesus Is A Friend of Mine. The rest of their set-list is unknown, though Sue implied that it contained similar songs. They do not win over all the judges as Sister Constance believes it to be "cheap pandering" which she hated even as a stripper and Rod presumably agrees though it wins over Tammy-Jean. As a result they do not win leaving Sue very angry and she punches Carla Turnington-Stevens.

Notes

  • "Aural Intensity" is often mistaken for "Oral Intensity", which is why during Regionals Sue refers to them as "the not-at-all-stupidly-named Aural Intensity".
  • It is mentioned by Sue in the episode "Comeback" that she is the new Director of Aural Intensity, instead of the "chipper homosexual".
  • In "Journey", the announcer, and later Sue, says that Aural Intensity is from Ft.Wayne Indiana.

Known Songs

Trivia

  • Their song choices are always intended to appeal the judges: Magic/You Raise Me Up - They sang songs by judges Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban. Jesus is My Friend - Because two of the judges were Sister Mary Constance, a nun, and Tammy Jean Albertson, a conservative Christian politician.
  • Neither of their songs were released
  • Comfort Fedoke and Lauren Froderman from So You Think You Can Dance performs in Jesus is a Friend of Mine.
  • It was rumored that Karofsky would be an Aural Intensity member in Season 3.
  • It is assumable that someone always tips them about the judges based on their performances.
  • They have never been seen in any other competition asides Regionals.
