Constant Craving by k.d. lang is featured in I Kissed a Girl, the seventh episode of Season Three. It is sung by Kurt, Santana, and Shelby. It is the final song of the episode.
Santana says she chose this song because it gives her strength and carries her through, just like the New Directions do. During the performance, the Glee Club watches on with satisfied faces. Kurt, however, is upset about losing the senior class presidential campaign, even sitting down as Finn, Will, and Burt celebrate as Burt won the election against Sue Sylvester. We also see Puck watching Shelby in the hallways as Kurt, Shelby, and Santana sing. At the end of the performance, Rachel is seen walking down the hallways as she tells everyone in the choir room that she rigged the elections and is now suspended for a week, which includes being banned from competing at Sectionals.
Lyrics[]
Santana (New Directions):
Even through the darkest phase
Be it thick or thin
Always someone marches brave
Here beneath my skin
And constant craving (Constant craving)
Has always been (Always been)
Shelby:
Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
Feeds wisdom to its youth
Santana (Shelby with New Directions):
Constant craving (Constant craving)
Has always been (Always been)
Santana and Shelby:
Craving
Ah-ha
Constant craving
Has always been
Shelby:
Has always been
Santana (Shelby with New Directions):
Constant craving (Constant craving)
Has always been (Always been)
Santana and Shelby:
Constant craving has always been
Kurt, Santana, and Shelby:
Craving
Ah-ha
Constant craving
Santana and Shelby:
Has always been
Has always been
Has always been
Kurt (Shelby):
Has always been (Always been)
Has always been (Santana: Always been)
Has always been (Has always been)
Kurt:
Has always been
Santana and Shelby:
Has always been
Trivia[]
- The original artist of this song was featured in You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch, as a duet with Will.
- This is the first and only group number in which Shelby has a solo. The other songs she sang were either solos or duets of hers.
Mistakes[]
- Constant Craving was written by k.d. lang and Ben Mink, not Melissa Etheridge, as seen in closed captioning. Melissa Etheridge wrote I'm the Only One, sung by Puck in the same episode.
