Jessica Sanchez

Jessica Elizabeth Sanchez, born August 4, 1995, is an American (Filipino-Mexican descent) singer from Chula Vista, California. She was the runner-up on the eleventh season reality singing show, American Idol, and is currently signed to Interscope Records.

Jessica Sanchez appeared in the episode All or Nothing, and appeared briefly in the episode Lights Out as Frida Romero, the lead vocalist of the glee club The Hoosierdaddies.

In an interview with the Manila Bulletin, Murphy said he would have wanted Sanchez to be in every episode of “Glee” this year, only that it was not possible because of the singer’s prior commitments. “Well, when you have a voice like that, we wanted her to be in every episode this year. But she couldn’t because of the tour. She is doing an album so we worked it out that she will probably do two or three episodes so that will probably be 16, 17, 18 when we get into the regionals competition,” he said. Source

The 18-year-old California native appeared on two episodes,in the role of “a student from a rival school who’s this legendary diva powerhouse singer.”

Sanchez told The Hollywood Reporter, “I love to be creative — that’s what the entertainment business is about.” Source

In an interview with TVLine, she reveals that her character is a legendary diva from a rival show choir. She goes on and says she hopes to work with Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez), explaining that she loves her attitude. Source

In her recent interview from Just Jared Jr., she noted that "They said I’m going to be a diva, powerhouse singer, but more like the sweet type. And I guess that’s more true to me. I’m not really like the mean girl, so it’s going to be easier on me. (My favorite character would be) I’d say Lea Michele [Rachel Berry]. I love her character and I love the person that she plays and everything that she has accomplished in the show." Source

At the age of 11, she auditioned for the 1st season of America's Got Talent where she was eliminated in the Wild Card show. She returned to the show in 2025 for their 20th anniversary season where she received the Golden Buzzer from judge Sofia Vergara in the auditions and went on to win the competition.
