This page shows all the mistakes in all of Glee's Season 5's episodes and songs, as well as some things that have little or no continuity.

Love, Love, Love[]

  • Kitty incorrectly calls the Beatles a "band from the 1940s", when they're really from the 1960s. However, this mistake could have been intentional, to show her uneducated knowledge of the band.
  • After Kitty talks with Bree and gets the Instagram alert on her phone, she only has her phone in her hand. However, when she turns around to speak with Artie, she magically has a stuffed lion in her hand.
  • When Trent is talking there are Dalton students, possibly the Warblers, behind him, Nick and the John. But then when the shot changed to Sebastian talking, there are only Sebastian, Trent, Nick, and John. Then the shot changed again to Blaine back to the 4 Warblers with the Dalton students behind them.
  • When Tina picks Sam as her prom date, Sam puts his hand around Tina's waist, and when the camera angle changes his hand are on her shoulder, and then again on her waist.
  • Ryder stated in the previous episode that he would leave glee club after Regionals, however he is there without any explanation.
  • At the beginning of the episode, when Will is telling New Directions they're doing The Beatles, Sam is wearing his backpack, but in another shot he isn't and then it changes back to him wearing it for the rest of the scene.
  • When talking to Sam, Ryder, and Jake, Blaine says that Tina was dumped by Artie because she faked the stutter. However, it was actually Tina who broke up with Artie in Audition, in order to date Mike Chang.
  • Kitty mentions to Artie that she hates Breadstix but has been seen there previously on two separate occasions. She has dinner there with Ryder in Lights Out, and she runs a meeting there for her Left Behind Club in The Break-Up.
  • Right before Blaine proposes to Kurt and they are standing on the stairs and rose petals are falling, the petals on Kurt's head and shoulders disappear and reappear with each shot.
  • The Too Young To Be Bitter Club was disbanded after the success of the Sadie Hawkins dance in Sadie Hawkins, but in Love Love Love Blaine mentions that he saw Tina attend a meeting alone (eating all the food, that is meant for members) meaning the club was never disbanded.
  • In Love Love Love, Blaine is concerned about Tina because he says she'd been dumped by both Artie and Mike in the past. However, Tina was the one that dumped them, as she was shown to have dumped Artie over the summer for Mike in Audition, and dumped Mike before The New Rachel, and was even said to have dumped him shortly after getting a tattoo of his name. In addition, it is mentioned by Kitty in Love Love Love that Tina dumped Artie.
  • In All or Nothing, Ryder states he will quit Glee Club after Regionals, but he is still in it in Love Love Love with no mentioned or explained reason.
    • Possible explanation: Ryder is supposed to want to leave because Unique catfished him and Marley covered for her, so maybe he forgived them and therefore there was no reason for him to be out of the New Directions anymore.

Songs[]

Got to Get You into My Life[]

  • During the song, there is a part where Kurt runs up the stairs but then quickly runs back down because the band is right behind him. However, during the next shot, the band is nowhere to be seen. In the shot after that, the band is on the stairs again.

Help![]

  • While the kids are running across the courtyard, Tina and Unique disappear.

A Hard Day's Night[]

  • During the song a man is seen dancing beside a pole. But in the next shot, he is gone.

Tina in the Sky with Diamonds[]

  • When the inside of the bucket is shown for the first and second time, its contents appears very smooth with little ice. However, when the inside of the bucket is shown as it begins to fall, the contents are much more thick, and has a lot more ice in it than the first time it was shown.
  • The bucket couldn't have fallen on Stoner Brett as it was clearly shown that the rope was securely tied to it.
  • In the beginning of the episode, Tina declines Sam's invitation for prom. However, Tina was given the choice to pick her prom date. (Love Love Love)
  • Stoner Brett's face alternates between having red slushee splash back on it and being completely clean as the prom scene goes on.
  • When Bree is brought to Sue's office, Sue points out that she's never seen a black Cheerio before, despite having Mercedes and multiple black extras on the Cheerios throughout the show.
  • In Pilot, when Will tries to talk to Rachel about rejoining Glee Club, she says, "Being a part of something special makes you special, right?". Tina wasn't in this scene. However, in Journey when the New Directions go to Will's house for dinner, Tina starts crying and says, "Rachel was right. Being a part of something special, it made me special." However, this could have been a common saying of Rachel's, since she says it again in Tina in the Sky with Diamonds.

Songs[]

Here Comes the Sun[]

  • After Dani stopped playing the guitar, you can still hear it playing on the background.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band[]

  • At the start of the song when Jake and Ryder sing together, Jake's hand is on the mic stand, and Ryder's hand is on the microphone. When the camera angle changes, their positions swap, and Jake's hand is on the microphone, and Ryder's hand is on the mic stand. When the angle changes again, their hands are back in their original positions.
  • Near the end of the performance, Marley runs across the stage, high-fiving the audience. She runs towards Jake but in the next shot, she isn't seen. Right after this the performance ends and all four of them suddenly have the mic stands as well.

Hey Jude[]

  • Before the end of the performance, Marley stops clapping and brings her arms down, but in the next shot, she is happily clapping again.

Let It Be[]

  • When Tina's solo is shown, the background of the auditorium doesn't have any lights but when Artie joins her, the lights suddenly appear.
  • When the New Directions sing the chorus, Tina is seen in the front middle. But, in the next scene, she is seen walking up and then standing in the same spot.

The Quarterback[]

  • When Santana checks on Finn's locker, her nails are unpainted. But when she is in Sue's office, her nails are painted black.
  • When Kurt approaches Santana on stage, the folded piece of paper changes from flat to sticking up a few times between shots. This makes sense because they would have to fold it again when they shot the scene again.
  • When Santana is yelling at Sue in her office, she isn't wearing earrings. But when she is singing in the choir room, she is wearing them.

Songs[]

Seasons of Love[]

  • At one point, when the Alumni and the current New Directions members come to the center, Ryder can be seen coming to his position but in the next shot, he is coming to it again.
  • At another point when the New Directions are zoomed in and singing "Laughter and strife." Sam is seen singing the wrong words.

If I Die Young[]

  • In one shot, the New Directions are seen singing with Santana, but in another shot they can still be heard singing, but their lips aren't moving.

A Katy or A Gaga[]

  • The songs Applause and Roar were released in August 2013 when it's supposed to be Spring 2013. The reason for this is unexplained.
  • After Applause is performed, the next scene shows Kitty, Jake, Tina, and Unique squabbling about how amazing the performance they just saw was, Kitty even says "did you just see what they just did" - showing that they had just watched the performance. However, they are wearing different outfits than the ones during Applause, so it can't be the same day. It should be noted that the clothes they are wearing during Applause are the same clothes they were wearing during their first meeting.
  • Sam's Applause teaser video said that the performance will take place at 3:30. However, before Wide Awake, Sam goes to find Penny, asking her why she disappeared after the show, which implies that it is still the same day. Then after Wide Awake, Jake then asks Marley to come over after school, but if Applause was performed at 3:30, the school day should have already ended.
  • Marley was only suspended from New Directions, so there is no logical reason as to why she wasn't allowed to watch the Wide Awake performance as it was open to the whole school.
  • When the episode begins, Mr. Schue says that they are six weeks away from Nationals. However, when Sue suspends the Glee Club members, he claims that there are only four weeks left to get ready for Nationals, whilst only one week passed.
    • Curiously, this mistake was fixed in the Latin American dub of the show. When the episode begins Mr. Schue says: "A secret list of the show choirs that we will be in competition with at the next Nationals".
  • In this episode, Unique says Lima doesn't have a zoo. However, in the episode The Power of Madonna, Sue states that Emma has the sexual appeal of a panda from the local zoo. This could possibly be explained by the zoo closing down, but there is no other logical explanation.

Songs[]

Roar[]

  • When New Directions run into the jungle scene, Tina is running on the left whilst Kitty is running on the right, but when they get into position on stage and the camera angle has changed they have swapped places.
  • When Elliot is singing his solo, Santana can be seen incorrectly lip-synching along with him, even though her voice is not heard.

The End of Twerk[]

  • At the beginning when Tina is showing the glee club Blaine's twerk video she is wearing fishnet gloves and in the next scene they are gone.
  • In the final choir room scene, after Sam goes to sit down next to Jake, when the camera angle changes, you can see the side of Sam's red sleeve to the left of Blaine and is not visible in the seat. When the angle changes, Sam is sitting down again.
  • Bree's Vine video of Marley and Jake couldn't have been a Vine because it lasted longer than seven seconds.
  • During Kitty and Jake's twerk tutorial, Jake is first seen at the front, alongside Kitty, addressing the New Directions, but in the next shot, he is twerking with Marley at the back.
  • Limoncello is an alcoholic beverage. Since Kurt and Rachel are both under New York's legal drinking age, 21, and are publicly drinking, they would have likely been stopped by someone in the tattoo parlor.
  • While at the tattoo parlor, after the tattoo artist asks who wants to go first, Rachel is seen holding the bottle of Limoncello, but she put it in her bag the scene right before.
  • When Sue talks to Will in her office she tells him that he has to come to terms with singing Blurred Lines while 9 teenagers twerked alongside him, possibly referring to the 9 remaining members of the New Directions. However, this couldn't be true, since Artie can't twerk and Unique wasn't present during the number. She also couldn't have been talking about all the students present during the number, as there were way more than 9.
  • When Unique enters the vestibule to the girls room from the hallway the light is off, yet when she exits the vestibule into the girls room the light is on. It could be possible that the vestibule has it's own power supply and lights, but Bree was already in the restroom and would've likely turned it on before Unique could.

Songs[]

Blurred Lines[]

  • When New Directions are leaving the choir room, Tina comes out right after Artie and Jake, and when the camera changes back after Will, she comes out again after Ryder.

On Our Way[]

  • When Marley, Sam, and Ryder are running to the front of the stage and lie down, Kitty is running too and starts to lie down with them. When Blaine, Jake, and Tina run to join them, Kitty is seen running and lying down again.
  • In the performance, during Marley and Ryder's part, you can hear Melissa's vocals but she is smiling instead of singing.
  • When they lie down on the front of stage, Blaine can be seen running last and he lies on Sam's back. When the scene was shown again, Sam is now the one who lies on Blaine's back.

Movin' Out[]

  • During the scene in Kurt's bedroom, Kurt is grabbing Blaine's right hand, but in the next shot he's holding the left one.

An Innocent Man[]

  • The mirror Ryder is staring at reflects a camera by the end of the shot.

Just the Way You Are[]

  • After Kurt and Sam sing together, Rachel doesn't move her lips at the "I want you just" part.

You May Be Right[]

  • A man in a blue uniform passes by while Blaine is dancing, but when the camera changes angle, he is nowhere to be seen.

Puppet Master[]

  • You can see heads when the puppets are surrounding Blaine in You're My Best Friend.
  • It can be remembered that Sue revealed to Mercedes and Kurt in The Power of Madonna that she was jealous of Will's hair and that she was forced to wear hers short because she and her sister Jean bleached it when she was six with ammonia and other cleaning products. But in Puppet Master, she said that she cut her hair short to look more strict. This was a decision she made solely on her own and something she decided to do not forced to. So above other things, she had long hair growing up and only wore her hair short when she started teaching.

Songs[]

Nasty/Rhythm Nation[]

  • Before Bree slapped Jake, she is shown lifting her right hand, but when she actually slaps him, she is using her left hand.
  • In the choir room scene, Marley's hands are seen in a cross position. When the camera changes, her hands were on her side. This happened several times.

The Fox[]

  • When the New Directions are performing with the animal masks on, Unique is on the right of the group - but when it switches to performing with the puppets, she appears on the left.

Previously Unaired Christmas[]

  • Santana says that Brittany dumped her, when it was actually Santana who broke up with her.
  • Even though this episode was supposedly "unaired" from last season, and takes place in Christmas 2012, several characters had their season 5 hairstyles, such as Sam having long hair, and Jordan having bangs.
  • The Choir Room was given to Sue for Cheerios rehearsals after losing Sectionals, however the New Directions were still using it in this episode.
  • During the first Santa Land scene, Santana's hair is seen sitting behind her shoulders. However, in the next shot her hair is in front of her without her moving it. It switches again in the next shot.
  • During the first scene between Kurt and Santana, when he gives her a glass of eggnog Santana is shown about to drink it or just smelling it. However, in the next shot she doesn't have it anymore.

Songs[]

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree[]

  • Finn's plaque makes an appearance, even though it is out of focus, with a big red bow below it.

Mary's Little Boy Child[]

  • When Marley, Unique and Tina throw their coats, Unique and Marley's are thrown on the stage. When the shot changes, their coats were all gone.

Love Child[]

  • Finn's plaque makes an appearance, even though out of focus, when Coach Beiste sits down.

Frenemies[]

  • When Rachel and Santana are fighting, Rachel mentions the number they did in the choir room "after graduation," referring to So Emotional, when in fact it was before graduation. Curiously, this mistake was fixed in the Latin American dub of the show, where Rachel doesn't mention graduation.
  • In Extraordinary Merry Christmas Tina says that Artie's re-walk broke the next day. However, during his valedictorian speech, Artie says it broke an hour later.
  • All in the same day, Santana wears a green and yellow dress, then changes to a blue one for her audition, and then comes home from the audition wearing the original dress. It was definitely all in the same day because Kurt and Rachel were wearing the same clothes all the way through.
  • Sue mentions that both Tina and Artie have perfect attendance. However, Tina was absent for the events of The Spanish Teacher, something that was even mentioned in On My Way.
  • Tina and Artie compete for a solo at Nationals but neither Tina or Artie have a solo.
    • Will says that Blaine would have a solo, but this was apparently changed.

Trio[]

Songs[]

Jumpin' Jumpin'[]

  • When Sam walks over to Kitty during the song, he takes off his checkered shirt, but in the next shot, he's wearing it again.

Gloria[]

  • After Santana stands up on the couches and sings the line "But you really don't remember", Rachel sings "Ooooh", but we see her looking angrily at Santana, without opening her mouth, and Santana singing the "Ooooh".

City of Angels[]

Songs[]

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For[]

  • At the end, Sam's holding something behind his back, but in the next shot, his back can be seen without holding anything behind it. In the next shot, it's revealed he was holding Finn's drumsticks.
  • When Artie sang the lyrics "Yes I'm still running", the camera zooms into Artie, who doesn't seem to be singing.

100[]

  • In the bathroom scene between Rachel and Mercedes, Mercedes is seen wearing heels but when they return to the choir room she is now wearing similar color flats, presumably because the Happy performance has dancing with a lot of foot work.
  • In this episode Sam states that he is left handed. However, not only has he been shown to be right handed in previous episodes, he's shown to be right handed in this episode as well.
  • Before the Happy performance, there's an empty chair next to Blaine - Kurt isn't in the choir room. He appears there once the performance starts.
  • The episode is held after the Nationals of 2013 (the end of May, 2013), but Holly sings "Happy" which was released about six months later on November 21, 2013.
  • Will says that the lesson is "100" because it is the 100th lesson, but in fact this is the 74th lesson in the series. However, it could be argued that they had off-screen lessons.
  • Along with many other past episodes in Season Four and Season Five, Mike's hair constantly changes from his current look to his old look from Season 1.
  • Sam claims to be left-handed in 100, but he has been exclusively seen writing with his right hand on the show.

Songs[]

Raise Your Glass[]

  • Mike switches outfits mid-song.

Valerie[]

  • While Brittany is sitting down, you can hear her voice although her mouth is closed and she's smiling.
  • Santana mouths the final line of the song, even though it is Brittany's voice.

New Directions[]

  • In Prom-asaurus, Becky was hoping to become queen of the senior prom and seemed to believe that she could run for it. This must have meant that she was a senior in Season Three. However, Becky does not graduate until the episode New Directions in Season Five, which means she can't have been a senior at that point.
    • Possible explanation: Becky repeated senior year.

Songs[]

I Am Changing[]

  • The position in which Mercedes and Kurt are holding their hands changes back and forth several times.

Just Give Me a Reason[]

  • After the performance, Quinn says that they have never dated, however this is false, because in Hell-O, Puck says during Finn's voiceover, "We're not breaking up, I just don't dig fat chicks".

Don't Stop Believin'[]

  • When the five original members are on stage, Mercedes and Kurt are embracing and missing the choreography from behind. In the next scene from the front, the two of them are in sync with the group.
  • In the final chorus, Brittany is on Santana's left. However in the next frame, she is on the right.
  • After Quinn says goodbye to Mr. Schuester she can be seen passing Mike closer to Puck twice as the camera view changes.
  • The position in which Rachel has her hair parted changes sides.

New New York[]

  • Before singing Rockstar, Elliott refers to the band that wrote it as A Great New World rather than A Great Big World.

Songs[]

Downtown[]

  • During the song, Rachel's seen wearing black gloves in the car. However, when she opens the car window and waves at her friends towards the end, they have disappeared. She could though have removed her gloves.

Bash[]

  • During the flashback of Blaine reading Sam Star Wars fan-fiction, Sam should have had long hair as he was still living at the Bushwick Apartment, but his hair is cut short. However, that scene could be taken from the brief period between Sam leaving his first apartment and him and Blaine moving into Mercedes' apartment.
    • It could also be a production error.
  • While Mercedes and Sam are watching TV, after Mercedes tells Sam she just wants to watch the show, Sam pulls the blanket close to him, but in the next scene its spread out again.
  • Seeing as Rachel could not make any other night to redo her showcase, she technically shouldn't have been able to come to Kurt's performance as she should have had rehearsal.

Songs[]

I'm Still Here[]

  • When Kurt lays his jacket down on the piano, it's almost at the edge of it. However, when he stands on the piano, the jacket's visibly further to the other side.

Tested[]

  • When the boys are in the restaurant, Sam gets his frozen hot chocolate drink before Kurt. Yet right after, the waitress hands Sam his drink after Kurt's.
  • Blaine tells Kurt that he asked him to move out when in fact Blaine brought up the idea to Kurt in New New York.
  • Right at the end when Artie orders his huge dessert, the boys are talking and Artie eats the cherry on the sundae, a moment later the cherry suddenly reappears on top of the sundae.

Opening Night[]

  • In Makeover, Rachel says "Kurt must have forgotten his keys" when there is a knock on the door, implying that there is a lock on their door. When Sue enters their apartment in this episode, she says that there is no lock on their door.
  • When Rachel is performing, she is wearing a different wig to the one she wears in the scene where she is in her dressing room and Will finds out Emma is in labour.
  • When Sue and Will are performing NYC, Sue throws out her fake hot dog, which stays on the ground as people pass by on stage. When the spot on the floor is shown again after the pair are in the cab, it is gone and no one passed the spot to pick it up.

The Back-Up Plan[]

  • When Kurt is on the phone with Rachel, his engagement ring disappears and reappears.

Songs[]

Doo Wop (That Thing)[]

  • When Mercedes sings "Guys, you know you better watch out," her mouth remains closed from her previous line.
  • When Santana sings "Come again" her mouth remains closed until her next line "Philly, Penn".

Old Dog, New Tricks[]

Songs[]

I Melt With You[]

  • One of the workers in the animal shelter hands Artie the same pup twice between two shots.
