Maribel Lopez is Santana's mother. She makes her first and only appearance to date in Goodbye, the twenty-second and final episode of Season Three.
She is portrayed by Gloria Estefan.
Biography
Season Two
Blame It on the Alcohol
After Rachel's party, Santana comments she has been dry-heaving all weekend and when her mother asked what the sound was, she said she was practicing bird calls.
Season Three
I Kissed a Girl
Santana says that her parents accept her sexuality.
Goodbye
She makes her first appearance at Breadstix when she is having dinner with Santana and Brittany. Santana decides that she wants to go to New York, not to college in Louisville, but Maribel insists she wants her daughter to go to college. She says New York would still be "there" after she receives her college degree. She appears again when Santana cleans out her locker and gives her the money that she had saved for her to go to college, but she finally accepts Santana's request to go to New York. She tells her that she trusts and supports her decision and to do what she wants with it.
