She is portrayed by Gloria Estefan.

After Rachel's party, Santana comments she has been dry-heaving all weekend and when her mother asked what the sound was, she said she was practicing bird calls.

Santana mentions that her parents accept her sexuality.
Goodbye
She makes her first appearance in Breadstix when she has dinner with Santana and Brittany. Santana decides that she wants to go to New York, not college in Louisville, but Maribel insists she wants her daughter to go to college. She says New York would still be "there" after she receives her college degree. She appears again when Santana cleans out her locker. Maribel gives her the money that she had saved for her to go to college, but she finally accepts Santana's request to go to New York. She tells her that she trusts and supports her decision and to do what she wants with it.
