Marissa is a minor character who makes her one episode appearance in Shooting Star, the eighteenth episode of Season Four. She is a McKinley High School student.
Ryder thought that she was his online love interest, Katie. After Ryder sings Your Song to her, she informs him that though the pictures he was sent are hers, she is not Katie and he is being "catfished."
She is portrayed by Ginny Gardner.
Marissa doesn't appear physically, but every time Katie texts Ryder, he imagines her as Marissa. This is because the catfish has uploaded pictures of her to fool Ryder.
Ryder tells Jake about Katie and that she must go to McKinley because he saw her walk by while he was taking his 1984 exam. When he finally meets up with her, she seems pleasantly surprised and is then taken into the choir room by Ryder, where he serenades her with Your Song. After the song, he tells her he loves her, but she is confused about the entire situation. Ryder then explains that they've been contacting each other on Facebook and IM'ing each other. She reveals that she hasn't been communicating with him at all and that someone must've stolen her pictures to "catfish" him. She shows herself supportive and asks Ryder to call her anyway.
When Unique is revealed to be the catfish, she says she couldn't bear to show Ryder her true self and, therefore, used pictures of the cute and blonde, Marissa.
