They perform Dancing Queen at the Prom and seem to be on good terms. At first, they look sad and worried for Kurt, but then both are having fun and dancing around with each other while they sing the song, arm in arm. (Prom Queen)

Despite the fact that the two seemed to have become friends, Mercedes approves of Will's decision to suspend Santana from the Glee club (due to her and the Cheerios setting a purple piano on fire, on Sue's orders), noting that it's about time people took the club seriously if they are going to succeed at Nationals this year. (The Purple Piano Project)

Santana and Mercedes sing The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face along with Rachel and Tina where they have flashbacks of the first time they saw their significant others. Santana has a flashback to the first time she met Brittany and Mercedes has a flashback to the first time she met Sam. Once the song ends Mercedes leaves the auditorium in tears and goes to the restroom. Santana follows Tina and Rachel to the restroom to comfort Mercedes and to see what is upsetting her. Mercedes tearfully confesses to them that it wasn't Shane, but Sam, that she thought of during the song. Santana looks sympathetic towards her, and a little concerned. (Yes/No)

Will is worried about both their futures, since he's aware that neither of them have any plans yet. They are thus both made finalists in the dance-competition and rewarded with an assignment to cover a song from "Saturday Night Fever."  Santana along with Brittany helps Mercedes by singing back-up for her during Disco Inferno. (Saturday Night Glee-ver)

Mercedes and Santana, along with Brittany, Sugar, and Tina are all involved in the abusive joke made towards Coach Beiste and her black eye. Sue, Roz, and Shannon inform the girls that their assignment is to perform a song that was about female empowerment. Together, they perform Cell Block Tango, which is received negatively by them. Later, when Coach Beiste is honest to the group about the abuse she went through, they perform Shake It Out with Tina. (Choke)

During the last week of their time at school, Mercedes, Sam, and Santana discuss Mercedes' future plans. Santana congratulates her for being able to move to Los Angeles, as she dreamed, and hugs her. Santana admits that if it weren't Mercedes, she'd be terribly jealous of her, implying a deep friendship between the two of them. (Goodbye)

Santana and Mercedes reunite with Finn, Puck, Quinn, and Mike. Together they sing Homeward Bound/Home, in the school auditorium. Santana runs across the auditorium to share a friendly hug with Mercedes. Later, the six of them go to Breadstix and discuss their lives after graduation and Kurt and Rachel's absence. Mercedes comes home from the recording studio early, much to Santana's surprise. Mercedes tells Santana that the producer has listened to the final cut of her album and he told her that he didn't "hear a single" on it. Mercedes says she is afraid that her album will not be released now. Santana tells Mercedes that she would still kill to be where she is now-Santana is still working at the Spotlight Diner and unsure of her future. Mercedes invites Santana to the recording studio with her, thinking Santana might be able to help her discover a new sound.

At the recording studio, Mercedes and Santana struggle to find inspiration for a single. Santana reminds Mercedes that she came to NY to capture its spirit and that they should get out of the studio. Mercedes agrees, and they perform Doo Wop (That Thing) around the building, ending in the basement. Mercedes' producer follows them and is clearly impressed with their sound. He tells Mercedes that her album will be released, which makes her and Santana very happy. Later, Mercedes tell DeShawn, her producer that she wants the final single of her album to be a duet to include Santana. DeShawn is clearly skeptical and tells Mercedes that a duet with an unknown artist, even one that "has something" like Santana will not sell. Santana says she agrees and pleads with Mercedes to listen to DeShawn. She then leaves the recording studio with Mercedes clearly feeling frustrated over the situation. Back at the Spotlight Diner, Mercedes presents Santana with a contract and urges her to sign, as she believes they would make a great team. Santana at first tells Mercedes it isn't a good idea, but Mercedes disagrees and slides the contract over to Santana to sign, at which point they are interrupted by a panicked Kurt. (The Back-Up Plan)

Rachel mentions that she, along with Mercedes and Santana are gonna perform for Broadway Bitches. (Old Dog, New Tricks)

When Rachel calls all Alumni back to Lima, both of them are seen along with Brittany sitting in Auditorium and waving to Rachel and Kurt. Later, along with the rest of Alumni, they perform Take On Me. During Kurt and Brittany conversation, they are seen talking to each other. At the end of the episode, along with the New Directions and Alumni, they perform Home (Homecoming)

Before What the World Needs Now, Mercedes says, that they (New Directions, Alumni and Will) all love Brittany and Santana. (What the World Needs Now)
