Justin Monroe[]
Justin Monroe is a 17 year old New York high schooler. He currently attends Bushwick Leaders High School for Academic Excellence. He lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. His mother is constantly breaking her promises and is a drunk. She is a regular drug user and is barley sober. She doesn't care about her son. One day she loses her job meaning she doesn't have enough money to live in New York anymore and has to move back to Iowa with Justin. Justin is ridiculed at school often for not having all the modern trends. He has no friends at school and can only escape with his music.
One day he has had enough of the constant teasing of the kids and decides to ditch school one day. He catches a bus to the subway and goes to New York City and sneaks into Gershwin Theatre. There is no one around. Meanwhile Rachel and Kurt are feeling nostalgic from the first time they came to New York. They decide to go back to Gershwin Theatre where they had once snuck in to sing For Good. Justin has just snuck onto the stage and fantasizes that all the seats were full with an enthusiastic audience. He selects the song ‘The Story’ on his iPod and the music starts playing as he starts singing for the audience. After the first chorus we see Rachel and Kurt sneaking in. They are at the back of the chairs and see Justin singing. Justin does not see Rachel and Kurt because he still sees the audience. Rachel and Kurt look at each other with surprise and sneak into some chairs in the middle of the theatre. Justin finishes the song and Rachel and Kurt clap. Justin is shocked that there were people watching him. Rachel and Kurt go up to him and tell him they liked his performance and asked why he was there. He told them his story and told them he’s planning to run away because his mother wants him to move back to Iowa with her. They try and convince him not to and tell him to come back to Bushwick with them and hang out at the apartment. This makes him feel better that they have made friends with him. Before they leave they all sing the song ‘Price Tag’.
