Synopsis[]

After having a revelation, Rachel attempts to get her role back and asks Finn and Puck for assistance. Brittany gets a job at the Spotlight Diner much to the shock of Santana and Dani (Demi Lovato), but questions if it was a good idea after seeing how close Santana and Dani are.

Plot[]

The episode begins with Rachel walking around NYADA, feeling dejected that she lost her role on Funny Girl and tries to come up with a new dream. Rachel decides her new dream will be to help Finn run the Glee Club, but she gets a visit from her old self through a mirror, questioning her every decision. When Rachel decides she doesn't really know what she wants, she sings Torn from NYADA to the loft apartment. When Rachel tells her old self she know what she plans to do, Finn opens the door to the room, questioning who Rachel was talking to. She initially tells Finn she was talking to herself, until she reveals she was talking to her old self about what she wanted, and suggests he do the same as well. She questions if he's alright after the aftermath of his father's death, and Finn tells her he'll be fine, although he's still a little hurt about it. Finn reminds Rachel it's dinner time and leads her to the kitchen where they find Puck in the process of writing a song. Rachel announces to both Puck and Finn she plans to get her job back and while Puck immediately agrees to help her, Finn is skeptical and worries her idea won't work and she'll be disappointed. Rachel reminds him he was the one that told her to follow her dreams no matter how impossible and Finn ultimately agrees to help Puck and Rachel get Rachel her job back.

At the Spotlight Diner, Santana and Dani (Demi Lovato) discuss their next Pamela Landsbury meeting and the fact Dani is interested in buying a new guitar. Santana agrees to help her save up, but Brittany (Heather Morris) enters the diner in their uniform, causing Santana to question her. Brittany reveals she got a job at the Spotlight Diner, which stuns both Dani and Santana, Dani and Santana ultimately welcome Brittany in, but Brittany still appears skeptical of Dani and Santana's friendship, since it was Dani that broke Santana and Brittany apart the first time. Dani and Santana go off to do their own thing, which hurts Brittany's feelings and making her feel like the third wheel.

Finn, Puck and Rachel end up in front fo the Broadway venue where the three of them try to come up with an idea on how to get Rachel back into the theatre. While Finn initially suggests he and Puck dress up as KISS, the plan is for Rachel to go in there acting like a diva and Puck and Finn being her bodyguards (which doesn't bode well with Puck). Rachel is able to get Rupert Campion's (Peter Facinelli) attention and introduces herself as Cindy Lupone, a long lost cousin of famous Broadway star Patti Lupone. Rachel tells Rupert she plans on auditioning for the role of Fanny Brice and after a few moments of consideration, Rupert agrees. Rupert leads Rachel, Finn and Puck inside the theatre, only for the three of them to come face to face with Paolo San Pablo (Ioan Gruffudd).

On her lunch break, Brittany Skypes with her cat Lord Tubbington and talks to him about the situation between Dani, Santana and her, with Brittany admitting she feels jealous of the whole situation. Brittany realizes Lord Tubbington hung up and she continues to stare at Santana and Dani, where Brittany day dreams she's singing Sweet Dream to to Santana. Santana is able to knock Brittany out of her trance and ask her if she's okay, in which Brittany lies and says she is.

At the theatre, when Rupert has Rachel, Finn and Puck sit down and wait for their turn at auditions, Paolo lets them know that he knows that it's Rachel and while Finn and Rachel confront Paolo, Puck goes off to find the tape of Paolo runing Rachel's chances at Funny Girl. Eventually Rupert finds out Rachel used a disguise to get in the theatre and instead of kicking her out, he asks what she's doing there. Rachel tells Rupert that Paolo is a fraud and that's when Puck comes back with some proof. When watching the tape of Paolo and Rachel, Rupert sees the real liar is Paolo and he fires him, but has Puck and Finn throw him out of the theatre since they're dressed to play the part. After Paolo is fired, Rupert apologizes to Rachel for doubting her and offers her the role of Fanny again, which Rachel accepts. Rupert now has a new issue, who will play Nick Arnstein now that Paolo is fired. Rachel offers to rehearse on her own until Rupert can find someone else to replace Paolo, and Finn decides to help Rachel rehearse the You Are Woman, I Am Man number. As Finn and Rachel rehearse the number, Rupert and Puck become mesmerized and Rupert finally finds his Nick Arnstein when he offers Finn the role and Finn accepts.

That night, Rachel, Finn, Puck, Brittany and Santana gather in the loft living room as Rachel announces it's dinner time. That's when Rachel tells Santana and Brittany that Finn got the role of Nick Arnstein and she got her role back on Broadway. Santana guarentees Finn will be a trainwreck but Brittany congratulates Finn on his success. Rachel thanks Finn and Puck for their help and Rachel personally thanks Puck for everything he did for her, how he had been there even when Rachel was at her lowest. Puck and Rachel admit that they're each other's best friends and cement that with a hug. Rachel, Finn, Puck, Santana and Brittany end the episode by singing Mamma Mia, although Brittany still feels some sadness from Santana ignoring her for Dani.
