When Puck and Marley's two-month long romance is still a secret, Puck convinces her to tell those closest to them, earning mixed results. Rachel finds herself rekindling with her fathers after one of them ends up in the hospital. Sue cancels the Glee Club, forcing past and current members to reflect on their favorite times and say goodbye. Artie faces a predicament when it comes to his relationship with Kitty (Becca Tobin).

Plot[]

The episode and season begins two months after the events of No Boundaries, with Tina walking down the McKinley hallway as she reflects on her senior year. She slightly worries about where her future will lead her and mentions all the schools she applied to, still unsure as to which school she's getting in as she hasn't opened her letters yet. She enters the McKinley choir room to spot the New Directions playing with the instruments, reflecting on how in a few years they're going to be in the same predicament as her--not knowing where their futures will lead them.

Tina is knocked out of her thoughts when Finn surprises everyone with a visit, admitting he's in Lima since he wants to show his mother his report card from his last semester in college. Finn also adds that he's interested in wishing Blaine, Sam, Tina and Artie off as they're about to graduate High School. Will (Matthew Morrison) enters the room and spots Finn standing there, with the two of them catching up until Will puts the final lesson of the year on the board: "Goodbye". Finn decides to get with the lesson and offers to sing the seniors a number as a thank you for them being there for him when he was at his lowest. Finn plays the guitar and sings Good Riddance (Time of Your Life), accompanied by Blaine. After the number, everyone applauds Finn and the seniors thank him for the number. The underclassmen then wonder how they're going to outdo Finn's number and they begin to leave the choir room, but Jake (Jacob Artist) tries to talk to Marley about giving him another chance. Marley rebuffs his advances and reminds him she's in a relationship with Puck. Jake tries to remind her that Puck is a "Puckerman" and usually they only look for one thing in a relationship--sex. Marley defends Puck by saying he's nothing like what Jake described and has firm belief that he loves her. Marley and Jake's conversation is interrupted by Finn, who didn't hear a thing, in which Finn wants to speak to Marley alone. Jake leaves the choir room as Finn confronts Marley about the letter he received from New York about them being related and if she had knowledge about it, Marley admits she knew and reveals her fears in Finn not wanting her if he found out, Finn assures her that he'll love her the same as before he found out they were related and he gives her a hug as a comfirmation, welcoming her into the family.

Will is called into Sue Sylvester's (Jane Lynch) where she reveals that the school board is not thrilled with what happened at Nationals two months ago, Sue then tells Will that the Glee Club is cancelled and that there will be no more funding, prompting Will to be disheartened. She kicks Will out of her office and Will views some of the members, feeling worried that he has to tell them the club is over forever.

In the parking lot, Sue goes to treat hersef for finally disbanding the Glee Club, only to find her car isn't there. She finds Puck and Kurt at the scene of the crime and confronts Puck about where her car is. Puck tells Sue that he made good on his promise and is extracting his revenge on Sue for letting Bree in the club and hurting Marley. Sue questions where her car went and Puck reveals he sold the car to Sue's 'baby daddy' Michael Bolton, and encourages her to call him if she wants the car back. Sue enters the building to call Michael Bolton, but Puck's story turns out to be a lie when Kurt and Puck share a laugh at Sue's car being on the football field after Puck high jacked it without the keys.

Rachel and Finn share a date at the Lima Bean where Finn tells Rachel about Marley being related to him. Rachel assures Finn that he will be a great big brother to her and they initially plan to have a date at Breadstix that evening until Rachel receives a call from her father, finding out that her dad is in the hospital. A heartbroken Rachel leaves the Lima Bean and finds comfort in Finn, with Finn saying he'll go with her for support. Rachel appreciates Finn's support and the two of them go to the hospital.

At the McKinley library, Tina spots Artie working on his valedictorian speech which he finds difficult. Things are only worse when Artie is reminded about Kitty and how he might have to break up with her since he's leaving Lima after graduation. Tina and Artie continue speaking about Artie's prediciament--until they spot Marley and Puck making out in one of the aisles, earning confusion and shock from Artie and Tina. The both of them leave the library while Puck and Marley talk about their relationship, with Marley revealing how much she loves being with him, but at the same time finds it crazy that he's into her. Puck confirms his love for her and they both begin to leave the library--only for Jake to confront them both and beg for Marley to return to him while Puck is standing there. Marley tells Jake that their relationship is over and to confirm it, she kisses Puck in front of Jake. As Marley leaves, Jake and Puck have a tense conversation about how Marley left Jake for Puck, and Puck reveals it was Jake's fault Marley broke up with Jake due to him cheating on her with Bree. Jake tries to get into Puck's head by saying Marley doesn't care about the relationship since she's been hiding it from everyone for the past two months and it leaves Puck to analyze. Jake then realizes Puck is extracting revenge on everyone who hurt Marley and wonders what his punishment is, with Puck not revealing it just yet. Puck heads to the choir room and asks Marley out on a date, with hopes that they can talk about their relationship with Marley agreeing. At the same time, Tina goes to Santana and tells her about Puck and Marley's relationship, earning anger and jealousy from Santana.

In the choir room, Will reveals to the alumni and the current members that this week is the final week of Glee Club for good since it's being disbanded, earning shock and sadness from everyone. The members of the club decide to sing a song they had rehearsed for "Goodbye" week but figure that moment will be an appropriate time. The members sing Say, which splits with Finn and Rachel at the hospital. Rachel worries about her father being in the hospital and Finn asks how he ended up there, which Rachel revealing that he fell off the roof when he saw a squirrel while trying to install a satelite dish. Finn tries not to laugh and apologizes when he does. Finn then comforts Rachel and their conversation is interrupted when LeRoy (Brian Mitchell Stokes) wishes to speak to Rachel. Finn offers to get something for Rachel at the vending machine, leaving LeRoy and Rachel to talk about their falling out. After hearing how much Rachel loves Finn, LeRoy realizes Rachel's her happiest with Finn and soon apologizes to him for treating him poorly at the wedding. Finn accepts the apology and LeRoy welcomes Finn into the family. The moment is interrupted by Hiram (Jeff Goldblum) who is perfectly fine despite a broken arm and he makes amends with Rachel and Finn as well.

Puck and Marley spend their evening at Breadstix where Puck eventually brings up how he feels Marley is hiding him from their friends. Marley reveals she's not hiding him on purpose and tells Puck about how she's related to Finn. She then feels that the relationship became complicated but Puck assures her that he's in the relationship as long as she's in it. Marley falls deeper in love with Puck and decides to tell everyone about the relationship through song. Although she believes Puck will be hesitant, he agrees with her and the scene changes to the next day in the choir room where Puck and Marley sing Everything Has Changed. After the duet, Puck reveals to the Glee Club he and Marley are dating and it's well-received among Puck and Marley's friends--except for Jake and Santana. With realizing that almost everyone accepted their relationship, Puck becomes emotional and says he'll miss the Glee Club.

Everyone gathers in a circle and tells what they'll miss from the Glee Club the most, with Finn and Rachel later entering the room. They ask Finn and Rachel what their favorite parts of Glee Club was and Finn becomes confused, believing the Glee Club will be around next year. When he finds out the truth, he leaves the choir room in a huff and Rachel tearfully remininces and thanks Will for turning 12 underdogs into show choir champions. The group agrees to sing one last song, and Rachel goes to get Finn to convince him to sing with them. Rachel asks Finn what was his favorite part of Glee Club and Finn admits it was Rachel--how she made him feel better whenever he entered the choir room. Rachel tells Finn how much she loves him and the both of them agree to sing with everyone else in the auditorium. The alumni and the current members sing I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song with the plaque of Lillian Alder on the a pillow. After the performance, Will announces Glee Club is over and everyone shares one final group hug before leaving the auditorium. Finn goes to the choir room which is now empty and says goodbye to the Glee Club, turning off the lights and leaving the choir room.

Marley spends time taking out her books from her locker when Finn comes towards her, asking her to follow him to the cafeteria. Marley finds her mother sitting at one of the seats where she finds out that Finn wants her to go to New York for the summer. Marley doesn't hesitate and accepts the invitation, but becomes baffled when Kitty, Ryder, Unique and Puck enter the cafeteria, wanting to give Marley a surprise. They take her down the hall where they find Bree (Erinn Westbrook) and Puck unleashes his revenge on Bree; a barage of slushies in Marley's honor. Marley takes the last slushie and uses it on Bree, finally standing up to her for making the end of her sophomore year hell. Afterwards, Marley invites Puck over to her house that evening, implying that she might be willing to take her relationship with him a little further.

In the empty choir room, Tina, Sam, Blaine and Artie gather around with their letters, worrying about their futures. They all reflect on the Glee Club and start discussing the future, where they find out they're all going to New York; Tina to NYU, Blaine to NYADA, Artie to the Brooklyn Film Academy and Sam looking to become a model. The four of them become estatic and group hug in which leads to the song Unwritten, which starts with Marley at her locker and her heading to the auditorium where Tina, Artie, Blaine and Sam are finally graduating. The song ends with Marley entering the choir room and spotting it to be empty.

Long after the graduation ceremony, Will sits in the auditorium and Finn comes to speak to him. Finn reveals that he was heartbroken Sue ended the Glee Club, but when Will believes Sue is vindictive and a liar, Finn instead tells Will that Sue didn't want to cut the Glee Club and that she actually wanted the club to stay alive. Will tells Finn that he has an offer from Vocal Adrenaline and while he's unsure whether to take it, Finn encourages him to follow his heart. Will and Finn share an emotional hug and Finn heads out of the auditorium, leaving Will to think about his future.

At Marley's house, Marley decides to tell Puck that she's going to New York for the summer, but Puck confuses it with Marley leaving and them having to break up. Marley clarifies and Puck is overjoyed that she's spending the summer with him and while Marley and Puck share a kiss, Marley starts unbuttoning Puck's shirt, with Marley snapping out of it as she wonders what's coming over her. Millie comes home from Bingo and reveals she won $500 that she uses for food. Marley introduces Puck to Millie and Millie offers for Puck to stay for dinner. In the meantime, Marley and Millie talk in the kitchen about Puck and Marley soon reveals that she's been thinking about having sex with him. Millie tells her to be sure that it's what she wants and when she's ready to let Puck know. Marley agrees and thanks her mother for the talk, going to the living room to keep Puck busy.

On the last day of school, Artie goes to the choir room where he spots Kitty and the two of them talk about their relationship. Kitty and Artie both agree that it would be for the best if they split up so that Artie can go to New York and focus on his film career. Kitty assures Artie that he's going to make it big in New York and Artie asks for one final kiss before she leaves, with her complying. Kitty leaves the room and Artie begins to think about his future in New York.

At the Lima Bean, Blaine and Kurt discuss the proposal that Blaine left on the table, which he reveals Kurt had taken two months to ponder it. While Kurt questions the proposal, Blaine gives Kurt a heartfelt speech about them being in New York. It convinces Kurt to agree to the proposal and the two share a kiss. Blaine then reveals that he, Tina, Artie and Sam found an apartment in the same building as Kurt, Finn, Rachel, Puck, Brittany and Santana, which overjoys Kurt. The two of them start singing I'll Be There for You in the Lima Bean which transitions to JFK airport where Finn and Rachel are, the loft where Sam, Tina and Artie are and Central Park where everyone meets up. The song and episode ends with everyone jumping in the fountain, the screen going black, and the words "Glee: The New York Story" appearing on the screen in the 'Friends' font before the screen goes black completely.

Lyrics[]

Finn:
Another turning point a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist directs you where to go

Blaine:
So make the best of this test and don't ask why
It's not a question but a lesson learned in time

Finn and Blaine:
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life

Blaine: (New Directions Harmonizing)
So take the photographs and still frames in your mind

Blaine with Finn:
Hang it on a shelf with good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while

Finn and Blaine:
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life

Finn:
It's something unpredictable

Blaine:
But in the end it's right

Finn and Blaine:
I hope you had the time of your life

Blaine:
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so called problems
Better put them in quotations

Blaine with Tina:
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say

Ryder with Puck:
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moments

Ryder:
Knowing you'd be better off instead
If you could only

Ryder, Blaine, Puck and Marley:
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say

Marley and Rachel:
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over

Finn and Kurt:
You better know that in the end
It's better to say too much
Than never to say what you need to say again

Blaine:
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken

Blaine with Brittany:
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with heart wide open

Rachel with Finn:
Wide heart, oh!
Say what you need to say

Blaine:
Say what you need to say

Blaine, Rachel, Finn and Puck with New Directions:
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say (Ryder: Say what you need to say)
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to say
Say what you need to
Say what you need to

Blaine, Rachel, Finn and Puck: (New Directions)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)
Say what you need to say (Oh say what)

Blaine with New Directions and Alumni:
Say what you need to say

Marley:
All I knew, this morning when I woke
Is I know something now, know something now I didn't before
And all I've seen since eighteen hours ago
Is brown eyes and freckles and your smile
In the back of my mind making me feel like

I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now
I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now

Marley with Puck:
I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now
I just want to know you, know you, know you

Cause all I know is we said hello
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
And everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed

Puck:
And all my walls stood tall painted blue
And I'll take them down, take them down, and open up the door for you

Marley:
And all I feel in my stomach is butterflies
The beautiful kind, making up for lost time
taking fight, making me feel like

Marley and Puck:
I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now
I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now

I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now
I just want to know you, know you, know you

Cause all I know is we said hello
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
And everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed

Come back and tell me why
I feel like I've missed you all this time
And meet me there tonight
And let me know that it's not all in my mind

Marley:
I just want to know you better, know you better, know you better now
I just want to know you, know you, know you

Marley and Puck:
Cause all I know is we said hello
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
And everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed

Marley:
All I know is we said hello
So dust off your highest hope
All I know is pouring rain and (with Puck: everything has changed)
All I've known is a new found grace
All my days I've known your face
All I know since (with Puck: yesterday)

Marley and Puck:
Is everything has changed

Rachel:
Well I know it's kind of late
I hope I didn't wake you
What I gotta say can't wait
I know you'd understand

Rachel and Finn:
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came our wrong
So I'll have to say I love you in a song

Kitty:
Yeah I know it;s kind of strange
Every time I'm near you
I just run out of things to say
i know you'd understand

Kitty and Jake:
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong

Rachel, Finn, Kitty and Jake:
So I'll have to say I love you in a song (Rachel: Oh, oh, oh)

Puck and Kurt:
Every time the time is right
All the words just came out wrong

Puck, Kurt, Santana and Brittany:
So I'll have to say I love you in a song

Ryder:
Yeah I know it;s kind of late (New Directions and Alumni: It's kind of late)
I hope I didn't wake you

Blaine:
But there's something that i just got to say (New Directions and Alumni: Understand)
I know you'd understand

Unique:
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong

New Directions and Alumni:
So I'll have to say I love you in a song
(Rachel: Oh, I love you, I love you, I love you)
(Tina: Oh, I love you)
(Artie: So I'll have to say) (Finn: I love you)

Rachel, Finn, Artie, Tina and Kitty with New Directions and Alumni:
In a song...

Marley:
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the word that you cannot find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten, yeah, oh, oh

Tina:
I break traditions, sometimes my tries are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Artie with Blaine:
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the word that you cannot find

Tina with Sam:
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
