Season Eight of Glee will air sometime around Fall 2016. It will air on Fridays at 9PM EST.
The show's eighth season spans into 18 episodes total.
On September 20, 2015, Fox renewed Glee for an 18-episode long eighth season.
For the season, Naya Rivera, Jenna Ushkowitz and Alex Newell were all promoted back up to series regulars, as their characters had been recurring for the past two seasons. Heather Morris was once again promoted back to a series regular after being recurring since the fifth season. Myko Olivier was also promoted to a series regular for the first time after being recurring since his introduction in the sixth season. Dianna Agron was promoted back up to a series regular as well, as she had been recurring since the fourth season.
Matthew Morrison, who was a series regular since the premiere of Glee, was demoted to a recurring guest star this season.
It was announced on September 22, 2015, that this season would begin with a year long time-jump after the events of the Season Seven finale, The First Day of Summer. Later that day, Jennifer Lopez tweeted that she would appear as a Special Guest Star for the season.
On September 24, 2015, it was announced that Glee would once again pay tribute to a musical artist. It was announced on September 29, 2015, to be Shania Twain.
On September 28, 2015, it was announced that Glee would have a Halloween episode, a first since Season Two's, The Rocky Horror Glee Show.
On October 26, 2015, it was anonomousyly leaked that Glee was once again paying tribute to Britney Spears this season. Following that, on October 28, 2015, Ryan Murphy confirmed that they were indeed making another Britney Spears tribute episode. The episode was revealed to be If U Seek Brittany
