For this season, Melissa Benoist (Marley) and Jonathan Groff (Jesse) were promoted to the main cast. In Melissa's case, this is the second time she is promoted after being a regular cast member in the fifth season, and recurring during the fourth, seventh and eighth seasons.
Jesse Moss (Luke), Farly Smith (Ellie), Bianca Ryan (Anne), Joseph McManners (Noah), Devon Werkheiser (Benjamin), Emily Osment (Sally), Luke Benward (Kevin), Taylor Ware (Jessica), Julienne Irwin (Chelsea), Troye Sivan (James) and Jamia Simone Nash (Veronica) are also going to appear in this season.

Plot: Presented as a clip show episode, Sue, still angry at Superintendent Harris for firing her three years ago and unable to become Principal of WMHS for a third period, she decides to release to the world the recordings she has had since ten years (which have been recorded thanks to her Droid), including some-never-before-seen scenes involving the New Directions, Will and Rachel. Due to her success as a coach in the past, she is given the possibility to return as a TV host on a show called Sue-Ah, produced exclusively for her, Sue finally reveals a lot of secrets that people from the world have been wondering about all these years. For instance, it's finally revealed what happened to New Directions after their first Regionals loss back in 2010 and before the new school year, the reason why Jesse was not seen in the Rehab and Mercy performances and many other secrets.
