Sam suggests this number as part of the club's assignment to come up with a "proposal number" for Emma, after Will turns down other ideas, which included Moves Like Jagger/Jumpin' Jack Flash, The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face, and Without You that were performed to Will by the various Glee Club members during the week. After the song, Will asks Emma to become his wife, to which she accepts.
